AFL South Africa

AFL South Africa is the newly constituted national federation for Australian Football. From 2003, Australian Football has become an officially recognised sport of the North West Academy of Sport, and AFL South Africa is one of twelve federations associated with the academy.

Aim

AFL South Africa aims to provide a structured environment for which the game of Australian Rules football can be developed in all of South Africa. AFL South Africa will strive to ensure the sustainability of the sport by empowering communities and educational institutes to gain knowledge in all areas of the code. AFL South Africa will work with business, government and education sectors to provide support to administrators, coaches, officials and players that will optimally enhance the performance of all participants in South Africa.

A result of such development work will ultimately see a talent identification program introduced to see coaches', umpires' and players' reach the elite level.
