Andrew Hughes is the Australian Football League (AFL) representative on the AFL South Africa Board, a position he has filled since October 2018.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Deakin University in Melbourne (Major in Sport Management & Marketing).

Andrew is currently the AFL’s Community Football Operations Manager, previously filling the role of International & Community Football Manager, amongst others, in an extensive career with the AFL, which began in 2008.

Andrew’s far-reaching position at the AFL supports and develops all aspects of community football and by extension oversees the management of rules, regulations and policy.

Previously Andrew oversaw the management of the AFL’s International Cup, a pinnacle event for International affiliates, held every 3 years in Australia.

Andrew was a keen footballer at amateur level having played over 300 games for Croydon Football Club in the Eastern Football Netball League in Melbourne.
